What our previous Team Member had to say about being part of Team TCS Teachers “I could not have been prouder to run in the Team Teachers shirt yesterday. I’m sure that I had as many people cheer ‘Go Team Teachers!’ as they did cheer my name! I feel this really demonstrates the respect the public hold for the profession and I am so grateful that TCS and London Marathon Events have chosen to acknowledge and celebrate this in the way you have. I know everyone in the group has commented on how they felt like a superstar for the day! Simone Wright, 2023

the daily mile commonwealth legacy challenge

The purpose of The Daily Mile Commonwealth Games Legacy Challenge is to help children to improve their physical and mental wellbeing by doing The Daily Mile, whilst helping to bring the Games to its next location.

The next Commonwealth Games takes place in Australia, and we are challenging you to run there by doing The Daily Mile and learn interesting facts as you go. If you do The Daily Mile 3 times a week, the Challenge will last for around 7 weeks.

How the Badge Challenge works:

One Daily Mile = one step on the map! The challenge is flexible, you can start and complete the journey at any time and place that suits your setting.

To complete the Challenge, just follow these steps:

1. Download your Commonwealth Games Legacy Challenge Map & Passport. You can choose to download the map in two formats: Printable versions or Interactive versions.

2. Go outside and do your Daily Mile.

3. Mark your progress on the map and learn about the world. Facts are cross curricular with links to the Ks1 & Ks2 geography curriculum.

4. Once you have completed your challenge there is a certificate that can be downloaded and given out to children.

We very much hope that you all enjoy doing your Daily Miles whilst learning more about the Commonwealth Countries and Commonwealth Games Moments.

Skip2bfit workshop

Skip2Bfit Personal Development IMPACT in Schools

Skip2Bfit challenge helps motivate children to skip, using personal best challenges to help children try to beat their high scor. It is also used as a motivational tool to encourage the children to try their best in everything they do.

The physical activity undertaken in a Skip2bfit 2-minute challenge showed that:-

SATS improvement findings were consistent across both literacy or numeracy curriculum areas, with a notable benefit identified for low ability pupils in the subject of numeracy. These results suggest that short, high intensity physical activity bursts, when placed strategically within the context of a school day, can have a positive impact on literacy and numeracy attainment.

Some schools have also taken Skip2bfit on board to use as an alternative to the Daily Mile as you can see from this school.

Below are links to some other videos where schools have had Skip2bfit.

Many schools now buy the ropes for the children to create a whole school impact. The counting skipping ropes are £6.66 plus VAT for the children who  then take responsibility for their own rope and this allows the ropes to be personalised for each child.  Skip2Bfit in your school would help to improve the schools even more in all areas and would help to get the children fitter. We also recommend the staff are given ropes along with the children for staff wellbeing after seeing how much teachers loved the challenge over the years.

Charge £380 + VAT for a one-day workshop and a further £395 + VAT for a kitbag which gives you the resources to make the programme sustainable.

Girls FOOTBALL OPPORTUNITIES

street tag greenwich

Street Tag is a family-friendly game that turns your local area into a virtual playground to earn rewards for physical activity, such as walking, scooting, running, and cycling. It’s a great way to stay active and explore local parks and green spaces.

Children, families, and school staff will sign up to represent their school on the Street Tag app to collect virtual points assigned to virtual tags that can be found and created all around them in the community and green spaces. Once you are within a 40-meter radius of any virtual tags, the app will automatically collect the points for you. Your steps can also be synced and converted into Street Tag points. These points add up in real-time on the schools’ leaderboard, with performance bonus prizes to be won at the end of each season for the school PE or PTA. With your support, we can encourage families to be more active, walking, scooting and cycling to school and explore their local communities.

Next steps of action

It’s easy to sign up!
